A little bit about myself:

Among the many hats he wears, Bret is an 8th grade English teacher, sits on the board of directors for  Pikes Peak Writers, sponsors youth outreach programs for young authors, and is a prolific writer of fiction, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry.  His work has appeared in scores of publications, including InformArt Magazine, Futures Mystery Anthology Magazine, GRIT, InsideMS, and Chicken Soup for the Caregiver's Soul.

A Colorado native, Bret spent his childhood daring the mountains to do their worst . . . OK, so that wasn't the brightest thing in the world for a young boy to do, but in doing it, he developed a taste for adventure that would carry him to the far reaches of the globe. Joining the United States Navy as soon as he could, Bret spent the next twenty years experiencing the world as only a sailor can.

He's got most of it in writing, too . . . and pictures.  Uh-oh!

After retiring from military service, Bret launched a writing career, an ezine for writers, and went back to school to complete his education.  Graduating with highest distinction from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, he gathered up his B.A. in English Lit. and added a Master's in Education for the express purpose of warping young minds to appreciate the joys of the written word.
